Double Up Food Bucks: A SNAP Matching Program

The Farmers Market Fund’s Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB) program matches SNAP dollars spent at 60+ farmers markets across Oregon. Through the program, the Hillsdale Farmers’ Market provides SNAP shoppers with a dollar-for-dollar match of up to $20 per shopper per day to buy additional fresh produce at the market.

How it works:
No sign-up process is required.  SNAP participants simply swipe their Oregon Trail Card at the market Information Booth in exchange for SNAP tokens to be used at the market. For every $1 of SNAP, up to $20 is matched in DUFB to purchase additional eligible items from local farmers and producers.  No change is given for DUFBs.  DUFBs expire on 12/31/2025.

Oregon Farm Direct Nutrition Program

The Hillsdale Farmers’ Market requires farmer vendors who sell produce to participate in the Oregon Farm Direct Nutrition Program (FDNP).  Oregon FDNP is a state-administered, federal nutrition program serving income-eligible seniors as well as families enrolled in the WIC (Women, Infants and Children) program.

How it works:

Participants receive $4.00 Farm Direct Dollars vouchers in the mail to spend on fresh produce directly with authorized farmers.  Farm Direct Dollars can only be used for fresh locally grown fruits, vegetables and cut culinary herbs. Items that cannot be purchased include dried foods, jams, honey, plants, or fruits/ vegetables not grown in Oregon (such as bananas).

Unlike our other food access programs, the Hillsdale Farmers’ Market is not involved in the transaction, which is conducted between the FDNP and the farmer vendor.Learn more about Oregon WIC.
