Cooking Ideas – Kohlrabi Salad with Pea Shoots

Kohlrabi, like broccoli, cabbage, collards and cauliflower, is a brassica. It looks a bit like a green (or purple) turnip and has a very mild broccoli-like flavor. Kohlrabi can be eaten raw or cooked. Here is a recipe from a market regular, Ivy Manning (link). The recipe is in Ivy’s cookbook, The Farm to Table Cookbook and posted on Culinate (link). Ivy points out that the kohlrabi leaves are quite edible. Just use them like you would kale or collards. (Ivy has a good recipe for the kohlrabi greens too.) You can find the recipe here (link). Enjoy!
