Happy New Year!

It was nice to have an extra week off and even better to be back at the market. I don’t know about you but I’m running low on a lot of things. Several farms are still recovering from the cold snap in December but most have enough produce to return to the market this week.

Starting this Sunday, Food Front is holding a Market Sunday event during each winter market session. From 9am-noon get Free Toast & Coffee featuring Dave’s Killer Bread, Rose Valley Butter, and Sweet Creek Fruit Spreads, along with a free 4 oz sample of ZBEANZ Coffee. At noon and running until 3 PM, there will be food demos from Food Front’s local vendors. As a reminder the winter dates are: January 10, 24 February February 7, 21 March 7, 21 April 11, 25.

See you on Sunday,

Eamon Molloy
Market Manager

What’s Coming To The Market This Week?

As I said earlier, farms are still feeling the effects of last month’s cold weather. Some farms even had problems with root vegetables. Crops are recovering though. This weekend you should find greens like kale, chicories, mustard greens and bok choy. Roots such as carrots, beets, parsnips, potatoes, onions, shallots, celeriac, radishes and Hamburg parsley should be available. A few farms should have sweet potatoes too. Winter squash, apples, pears and asian pears will be available. Stephens Farm has enough apples for one last batch of cider. Draper Girls will have their apple, pear and mixed fruit ciders as well.

Draper Girls will have plenty of lamb. Pine Mountain Ranch will have a good supply of bison and chicken while Sweetbriar Farms will have plenty of pork. As for eggs, Greenville Farms, Jacobs Creamery, Pine Mountain Ranch and Sweetbriar Farms will have eggs.

Check the availability list for the complete list of who’s coming this weekend and what they expect to be selling. The list is posted Thursday afternoon and updated through the weekend. For Sunday morning updates, check Twitter feed either on our website sidebar or on our Twitter page.
